Fifteen agencies have combined forces to go on the doorstep to see what assistance residents might need.  The agencies are drawn from the public, private and voluntary sectors – all working together to ensure that scarce resources are being delivered effectively.

Driving this pilot project is a short door step survey which will cover issues ranging from home fire safety checks, energy advice and health and well-being, through to community safety, community involvement and services to the older people.

The purpose of this pilot project is to see what help can be given across a range of services, and will be evaluated to see if this is an effective means of bringing services to residents who have not been contacted through other avenues.

The door-to-door survey will take place on Friday 17 February, weather permitting, on a small number of roads in Shipston-on-Stour, and if successful, it is hoped to widen the project out to other areas in Stratford District.

Councillor Valerie Hobbs, Enterprise, Housing & Revenues Portfolio says: “We are delighted to be part of this very worthwhile pilot scheme.  We are happy to have an opportunity to join forces with our partner agencies in the private and voluntary sectors for the benefit of the local community."

The pilot project 'Shipston Pathways' has been funded jointly by Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Public Health within NHS Warwickshire and Warwickshire County Council.

As the exercise is door to door – this may be affected by the weather.

The participating agencies are: Stratford District Council, NHS Warwickshire, Warwickshire County Council, Act on Energy, Shipston Town Council, Voluntary Action, CAB, Medical Centre, Warwickshire Police, Age UK, Transition Shipston, Stour Enterprise Centre, Everyone Active, Orbit Heart of England and Warwickshir fire and Rescue Service.
