Stratford-on-Avon District Council has demonstrated its commitment to boosting training and employment opportunities.

The District Council has recently recruited 4 apprentices on two year training contracts, in Customer Access in the following areas: business administration, customer service, and two in ICT support.

Apprenticeships are essentially work-based training, and have been available in a variety of forms for many years.  Depending upon the sector they can take between one and four years to complete.  They are a package of on-the-job training and qualifications and are open to all ages, with some government funding available to assist with the qualification element for those aged under 24.

The District Council has been working closely with the National Apprentice Service to choose training providers for the qualification part of the training.

Balvinder Heran, Head of Customer Access says: “Stratford District Council is committed to creating training opportunities and career prospects for local people who want to enter local government. National Apprenticeship Week helps celebrate this important route into work.  Through training and Apprenticeships, we believe we will nurture the talents of tomorrow's generation of employees."
