1% Council Tax reduction for Stratford District

Councillors have set the district element of the council tax in the Stratford-on-Avon District, at a full meeting of the Council today, Monday 27 February.

The average Band D figure for Stratford-on-Avon District Council households for the 2012/13 financial year has been reduced by 1% to £128.05, the lowest in Warwickshire.

This means that all the services provided by the District Council are only costing £2.46 per week for a Band D household.

The council tax from Stratford-on-Avon District Council for residents for each of the valuation bands is:

• A          £85.37                        
• B          £99.59                  
• C        £113.82                                              
• D        £128.05                      
• E         £156.51                
• F         £184.96
• G        £213.42                      
• H        £256.10

Cllr Chris Saint, Leader of the Council says: “We live in challenging times, when it not so easy to make ends meet.  As a District Council we are very conscious of the need to keep down costs for our residents, so our share of the Council Tax has been reduced by 1%.  We continue to face challenging financial times and the District Council had put into place some significant efficiencies and service changes with our aim to ensure we are as lean and effective an organisation as possible, identifying how best to deliver the services that residents in the District want.  However with the additional Government funding and our sound financial management we have been able to reduce the council tax level which I'm sure will be welcomed by residents.  This is the work of new leadership in the District Council providing a cautious budget with good news.  Stratford District Council has a strong record of low council tax while providing good services.  My plans are for this to continue."
