Residents in Stratford-on-Avon District have been taking advantage of an offer to save money and save carbon through free loft and cavity wall insulation.  The offer is open to all households regardless of age or income and still has time to run – it continues until the end of April 2012.

Mrs Edwards became the one hundred and fiftieth householder to be benefit from the offer made by Stratford-on-Avon District Council in partnership with ROCKWARM and Act on Energy.

Mrs Edwards of Shipston said she was pleased with the efficient service and said: “It was an offer too good to miss – and now I can look forward to lower heating bills!"

Councillor Valerie Hobbs, Enterprise, Housing & Revenues Portfolio says: “I am pleased that many residents are taking up this great offer – it is good for residents and good for the environment.  I do hope that others who have yet to take up this offer will do so.  Time is running out for Government grants where much of the funding has come from – so there really is no time like the present."

Whether you're a homeowner or renting your property, if you live in the Stratford-on-Avon District Council area, then you can get loft and cavity wall insulation installed completely free of charge.  The free insulation measures will help keep homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.  Taking up the offer could save each household up to £265 on their fuel bill each year and reduce each household's carbon emissions by 3,200 tonnes over 25 years.

Paul Chapman, co-ordinating the issue at the District Council, is also pleased that many are benefiting:  “The offer is good news for those who have houses with cavities – but we are mindful of other residents too.  We hope to be able to help to those with solid walled properties in the near future."

Anyone who would like to take advantage of the scheme should contact ROCKWARM to arrange a free home insulation survey on 02476 345554 or call free on 0800 132689.

The offer is open to everyone living in Stratford District, but only when there is LESS THAN 60mm of existing insulation.  The insulation measures are free for homes where the cavity is up to 120 square metres or 80 square metres for a loft.  If a home is bigger, then the householder will have to pay the difference.

  • The free loft and cavity wall insulation offer is being paid for through the Government's Carbon Emissions Reduction Targets (CERT) funding, which obliges every energy company in the UK to pay for measures to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Loft insulation could save a household £145 a year on fuel bills.
  • Cavity wall insulation could save £110 a year.
  • ROCKWARM – is a company that offers energy saving solutions across the private and social housing sectors.
