Big Splash April 27th – 29th 2012

Swimmers across Stratford District will now be able to make a Big Splash after their local pools in Stratford, Studley, Shipston, Southam became part of the nation's biggest ever swimming campaign.

The District Council's four swimming pool, which are operated in partnership with Everyone Active, has joined forces with British Swimming and the BBC to deliver the Big Splash and inspire the nation to swim.

Pool users will also be able to benefit from comprehensive internet-based support at www.bigsplash.co.uk where they will have:

• access to a range of training programmes and tips, including British Gas Swimfit, which will help beginners and more advanced swimmers
• the chance to track their progress, including virtual challenges such as swimming the Thames and
• a chance to become part of the Big Splash online community.

The Big Splash will be featured on the BBC Television, radio and online on a number of high profile programmes.

Double Olympic champion Becky Adlington, who is supporting the campaign, said: “Swimming is my life but just getting in the pool a couple of times a week is a really great way of getting active and staying healthy. I'm right behind anything that encourages people to take the plunge and swim more often."
