Hundreds of homes in Stratford-on-Avon District have signed up to a council-backed insulation scheme.

Over 400 houses have signed up to the free insulation offer from Stratford-on-Avon District Council in partnership with ROCKWARM and Act on Energy, saving the average household around £250 in bills.

Cllr Maurice Howse, Enterprise, Housing and Revenues Portfolio says: “It is great news that so many residents are taking up this offer. This scheme provides an excellent opportunity for homeowners to enjoy the benefits of increased insulation without the worry of finding the money to install it themselves.

“I would encourage all residents who have not yet taken advantage of this offer to have this insulation fitted before the winter months.  I am sure an offer like this will be welcome news to people whose homes are not as energy efficient as they could be. Not only will homes be cheaper to heat in the long term, we should also see a reduction in carbon emissions around the District."

Whether you're a homeowner or renting your property, if you live in the Stratford-on-Avon District Council area, then you can get loft and cavity wall insulation installed completely free of charge.  The free insulation measures will help keep homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.  Taking up the offer could save each household up to £265 on their fuel bill each year and reduce each household's carbon emissions by 3,200 tonnes over 25 years.

Anyone who would like to take advantage of the scheme should contact ROCKWARM to arrange a free home insulation survey on 02476 345554 or call free on 0800 032689. The offer is open to everyone living in Stratford District, but only when there is LESS THAN 60mm of existing insulation.  The insulation measures are free for homes where the cavity is up to 120 square metres or 80 square metres for a loft.  If a home is bigger, then the householder will have to pay the difference.

The free loft and cavity wall insulation offer is being paid for through the Government's Carbon Emissions Reduction Targets (CERT) funding, which obliges every energy company in the UK to pay for measures to reduce carbon emissions.

Loft insulation could save a household £145 a year on fuel bills.

Cavity wall insulation could save £110 a year.

ROCKWARM – is a company that offers energy saving solutions across the private and social housing sectors.

This grant scheme is set to end in the autumn and it will be replaced by The Green Deal which is a loan system rather than grant system.
