Widespread rain across the Midlands is expected on Friday and into the weekend. The Environment Agency is keeping a close watch on river levels, after heavy rain has left many areas more vulnerable to flooding.Residents and businesses are encouraged to stay tuned to local radio and visit the Environment Agency website for updates.

Graeme Smith, chair of Warwickshire Prepared, said:  "Flooding poses serious problems for residents but many of the worst case scenarios are avoidable by being prepared and planning for it.  Our website gives invaluable tips on being ready for floods and I would encourage residents to have a look and take the steps it advises.  Further information on how to prepare for emergencies can also be found at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/prepared. “

To receive free flood warnings residents can call 0845 988 1188 or visit our website. Once registered, if a Flood Warning is issued, they will receive an automatic message via their choice of telephone, SMS text message, email and/or fax.

Where possible, warnings are issued two hours prior to flooding to give those that are registered time to act to protect themselves and their property.
