The Shipston Stour Community Forum will be the first in Warwickshire to test out a live broadcast at its next meeting starting at 6.30pm on Tuesday 12th June at the Sheldon Bosley Hub.

So if you can't make the Forum itself, why not log on to see what's happening?

Put the date and time in your diary now and save this link www.shipstonlive.com, so with just one click on the night, you can be part of your local Forum from the comfort of your own home or your own 'mini forum'!

The Forum starts with a celebration of delicious local seasonal produce courtesy of Stour Grown, and Forum topics this time will include:

  • Questions to and Answers from Orbit Housing
  • Shipston Senior Citizens Action Network Goes Back to School - youngsters from Shipston Primary School will be teaching SCAN members the skills of navigating iPads and we'll see the evidence live on air!
  • The State of the District Debate - have your say on what you think are the most important issues in your community
  • meet your community police team, and help us set priorities for the next 3 months, and lots more......

The top 5 policing issues for voting on the night will be published 5 days ahead of the forum on www.warwickshire.gov.uk/shipstonforum so people can take a look before the meeting.

This is an ambitious plan for #shipstonlive, an event involving Warwickshire County Council, Stratford District Council, Stratford College, Warwickshire Police, Shipston Town Council, Shipston Primary School and many others.

Throughout the event Twitter will be updated on @warksdirect with all the tweets featuring the hashtag #shipstonlive to enable people to ask questions and take part in the event through the social media channel.

Cllr Mike Brain, Chairman of Shipston Stour Community Forum says: “This is an exciting idea using new technologies to reach wider and different audiences.  We know it's difficult for people to make it to a community forum, but that doesn't mean they are not interested in what's happening in their community. Events like these give people the opportunity to get involved. I would like to encourage as many people as possible to do just that – vote on the policing priorities, have your say on the District – we want to hear from you as your views help us shape our services."

Community Forums are part of a countywide initiative involving Warwickshire County Council, District and Borough Councils, NHS Warwickshire, Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire Together partners.

There are 30 forums across Warwickshire, which bring together elected representatives across all tiers of local government - County, District and Borough and Parish, together with a range of other community representatives.
