Keeping our streets safe with CCTV

Stratford-on-Avon District's CCTV system has received the British Standard Accreditation which recognises good management and practice for a fifth year.

The District's CCTV is now operated in partnership with local towns and parishes.

Cllr Mike Brain, Customer Access Portfolio with special responsibility for CCTV says: “This is great news and considering where we were at last year with this, just shows what an excellent CCTV operation we have in the District.  CCTV is a valuable community safety resource that provides peace of mind and reassurance and together with partners we are able to maintain this highly acclaimed service for residents, businesses and visitors alike."

There are 87 cameras, installed at strategically positioned locations in Stratford, Shipston, Alcester, Southam, Bidford, Wellesbourne and Studley recording real time footage 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which is then fed via optical fibre cabling back to the monitoring centre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Accreditation under British Standard 7958 follows a comprehensive assessment based on 120 separate criteria.
