Stratford-on-Avon District Council has received almost 8,000 comments as part of the Draft Core Strategy Consultation, which took place over a 6 week period between 16 February and 30 March 2012.

There were a number of consultation events such as the Community Forum and Parish Council workshops as well as more formal consultations through the District Council's Citizen's Panel and website.

The objectives of the consultation was to gain feedback on the new approach, the levels of development, location of development, scale of development, settlement hierarchy, area profiles/local policy approach and infrastructure requirements.

Cllr Chris Saint, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council says: “The District Council has received a variety of comments from a whole host of organisations and individuals and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to make their comments.  There is encouraging support for many of our proposed policies.  As with any consultation there are those for and those against, with some agreeing with some of the policies and others not.  As you might imagine developers and large landowners would like to see higher levels of development with communities favouring smaller scale developments.  This is where our Core Strategy must balance between sustainable growth and community aspirations."

A report will be going to The Cabinet on Monday 10 September 2012.
