Stratford-on-Avon District Council has teamed up with Stratford Senior Citizen's Action Network as part of the Uk's Older People's day 2012.

A special event has been organised for Tuesday 2 October from 9.45am to 1pm at the United Reformed Church on Rother Street, Stratford-upon-Avon.

The theme of the event is 'Energy, Vitality, Wisdom'  looking at keeping active in later life and the benefits of lifelong learning with guest speakers including Paul Lankester, Chief Executive of Stratford District Council.

Other activities include the opportunity to view the trailer of the film 'Ping Pong', a talk on preventing falls and a chance to try your hand at making music!

The event is free and open to all those over 50 and light refreshments will be provided.

UK older people's day is part of a national campaign organised by the DWP.  It celebrates the opportunities, achievements and aspirations of older people, their contribution to society and the economy, and helps tackle negative attitudes and stereotypes.
