Stratford-on-Avon District Council's toilets on Waterside have retained their award winning standard after receiving top honours with a gold medal in the Loo of the Year Awards 2013.

The District Council's entry was in the Local Authority Public Toilet category, where the toilet service is run by the District Council's in-house team together with its cleaning contractor, ISS Facility Services Ltd.

Cllr Lynda Organ, Technical Services Portfolio says: “I am delighted with this award. Council staff and contractors work hard to ensure the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors."

The Loo of the Year Awards have been identifying the best in Britain since 1987 and are recognised as standard setters for those who provide 'away from home' facilities for members of the public.

Every entry receives an unannounced visit from an authorised Loo of the Year Awards Inspector and is assessed against over 100 judging criteria – including signage and décor, fixtures and fittings and overall standards of cleanliness and management.
