The Government announced its 'new look' local government finance settlement yesterday, Wednesday 19 December and Stratford-on-Avon District Council are currently looking at the figures to try and establish what this will mean for the District Council.

Initial figures release by the Government show Stratford District will have over a 7% reduction in direct grant which equates to around £335,000. However, under the Government's method of calculating 'spending power' which includes other sources of funding including the New Homes Bonus this is showing an increase of 0.4% in the next financial year, with a 1.7% reduction in 2014/15, it is too early to say exactly how that will affect current budget projections.

Cllr Chris Saint, Leader of Stratford District Council says: “We are still working through the figures and have been preparing for a tough settlement from the Government.  After we have studied all the details, there will be an additional District Council Cabinet meeting on 28th January to debate the budget."
