Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Cabinet has today, Monday 29 April approved extra funding totalling £25,000 towards the Warwickshire Domestic Violence Support Service (WDVSS), to ensure the on-going provision of the WDVSS refuge in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The District Council was made aware of a shortfall in funding for the refuge following a recent District Housing Forum and brought an urgent item to The Cabinet today.

Paul Lankester, Chief Executive says: “The District Council views this to be a vital facility for Stratford-on-Avon District.  By providing this additional financial support it ensures the facility can continue to operate during the current financial year.  The District Council will work with the refuge to investigate alternative methods of financing to help secure its future survival."

The additional funding will be met from General Fund Reserves.
