Stratford-on-Avon District 2013 Swimming Gala

Last week the annual Stratford-on-Avon District Primary School Swimming Galas took place across the District at Stratford, Studley, Southam and Shipston Leisure Centres.

The four area competitions organised by Stratford-on-Avon District Council saw nearly 500 young children from 35 primary schools competing to secure a place at the Grand Finals.

In total 195 children have qualified to compete for their school and area at the Grand Finals competition that will be held on Saturday 20^th April 2013 at Stratford Leisure and Visitor Centre.

Following on from such a successful year of sport in 2012 it was very encouraging to see so many young people wanting to compete and do well for their school. With the Olympic and Paralympics Gamesmakers fresh in everyone's minds it was also good to see helpers from Stratford Sharks Swimming Club and young leaders from Shipston High School and Southam College volunteering at the galas and helping to make them such a success.
