In January this year the Chairs of the 9 senior people's forums across the county came together to form the Warwickshire Older People's Forum. The Forum is funded by Age UK Warwickshire and meets bi-monthly at Age UK Warwickshire's Head Office in Leamington Spa.
As with the local forums, the aims of the county-wide Forum are:
1) To provide opportunities for older people to have a say on matters of concern.
2) To work towards a better deal and equity of services for older people across the county.
3) To be a source of information and support.
4) Maintain links with local organisations across the county.
5) To campaign and influence decision making and to take part in appropriate national campaigns.
Danaë Sheridan, Chairman of the Forum, said: “The main objective of the Forum is to enable older people to be better informed, maximise their health and well-being and, most importantly, to give older people throughout Warwickshire a greater voice by combining forces." She added: “A county-wide Forum enables more constructive input into local planning forums and the setting of priorities and influencing policies."
