Stratford-on-Avon District Council is organising a free health walk around Stratford-upon-Avon as part of Public Health Warwickshire's Big Day Out on Saturday 14 September.

The walk starts at 10.30am from the Recreation Ground Pavilion, opposite the children's play area by the football pitches, and will last for around an hour and a half.

Participants are advised to wear appropriate footwear for walking across grass and pavements.

Chris Fennell, Leisure Services Manager says: “Big Day Out is simply for people to enjoy some activities in the great outdoors and improve general well-being.  A health walk is an ideal way of taking exercise and is suitable for all ages and abilities.  It's also free to join in!"

The Big Day out aims to get everyone to realise the benefits of the outdoors and with it the health boosts that come with getting out and about more often.

It is estimated in Warwickshire that only 20 per cent of the Warwickshire population are currently physically active and Big Day Out hopes to change this.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council organises a number of free health walks across the District in Bidford-on-Avon, Southam, Stratford-upon-Avon, Shipston-on-Stour and Wellesbourne on a weekly basis.  For more information please visit www.stratford.gov.uk/healthwalks or call 01789 260606.
