Do you live in Long Itchington and have a housing need?  If so, you should register with Stratford District Council to be in with a chance of a new home.

Warwickshire Rural Housing Association (WRHA) is on track to complete a development of 10 new houses in the village in December. This includes two two-bedroom houses for shared ownership, and eight homes for affordable rent: three two-bedroom bungalows, four two-bedroom houses and athree- bedroom house.

In order to be considered for one of the properties, people need to be registered with Stratford District Council's Home Choice plus.  Once they have registered, prospective tenants will be able to place a bid on a property from 7 October for one week.

The homes will be allocated to people with local connections.  This may include someone who was born in the village, who lives or works there, or used to live in the village but was forced to move away because of the lack of housing.

WRHA Company Secretary Craig Felts commented: “Warwickshire Rural Housing Association is committed to providing affordable homes in rural Warwickshire for local people and families who would not otherwise be able to afford to live within their own communities.

“I am very pleased that our new development in Long Itchington is due to be complete ahead of schedule and we can now encourage prospective tenants to get in touch.

“All being well, we hope that those who are successful will be able to move in by Christmas."

Enquiries about the new properties should be made to Philippa Osborne at Warwickshire Rural Housing Association on 01530 278080.

Anyone with questions about Home Choice plus should contact Stratford District Council on 01789 260864.

WRHA was established in 1989 and now manages over 500 homes in 43 rural communities in the county.  The Association considers applicants who have a local connection to the area. Local connection is considered where applicants:

  • Live in the area concerned
  • Have close relatives (eg parents) living in the area
  • Have employment in the area
  • Have previous residence in the area

Current studies show that 300 new rural affordable homes are needed throughout the county in the next five years.
