Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Cabinet has today, Monday 21 October, agreed a number of recommendations following the recent consultation for the new proposals for the District Council's Core Strategy.

The Cabinet agreed that the Stratford Canal Quarter Regeneration Zone and associated business parks will now form part of the preferred development strategy.  This decision will enable some master planning for the area.   The public and private sectors will work together to develop the area.

The consultation responses in relation to a proposed new settlement at Gaydon and Lighthorne Health were noted.  Further work will now be done to evaluate the robustness of this proposal.

Cllr Chris Saint, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council says: “The volume and quality of the consultation feedback the District Council received has raised some significant issues that needed further investigation and analysis, so we were unable to make a final decision on this part of the proposals at this time.

“The District Council is listening to concerns, from all sides in equal measures and taking these on board, remains committed in getting a Core Strategy adopted based on all the right evidence.  We need to make sure the right decision is made over housing and employment land for the future good of the District."
