A “Your Town, Your Choice" community safety event will take place in Stratford-upon-Avon town centre on the evening of Saturday 7 December.

With Christmas fast approaching the event aims to raise awareness around going out and staying safe, the risks associated with alcohol, and preventing violent incidents and anti-social behaviour on the night.

Among those involved in the activities co-ordinated by Stratford District Council Community Safety team are the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, Warwickshire County Council's Trading Standards and Community Safety & Substance Misuse team, StratForward, BardWatch and The Recovery Partnership.

Various stands and displays will be set up in key areas giving out advice about personal safety, including the dangers of excessive drinking.

Street pastors, police officers and police community support officers will be among those on hand to lend support and guidance.

Demonstrations will include a breathalyser machine, calorie and unit count cards, first-aid advice and a drinking time machine. The main event will take place on Greenhill Street – the road will be closed from 6pm to around midnight on 7 December.
