A public inquiry starts next week on Tuesday 10 December 2013, following an appeal by Persimmon Homes Limited against the development of land at the junction of Gaydon Road and Plough Lane in Bishop's Itchington

The appeal relates to a planning application for the proposed construction of 81 residential homes and associated works.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council has refused the application (13/00914/FUL) on 1st August 2013 on the following grounds:

  1. The use of this greenfield site in preference to other local brownfield sites, along with the proposed density, would result in significant and demonstrable visual harm to the character of the area which would outweigh any benefits.

  2. The existing village infrastructure would be unable to support the cumulative effect of the proposed scale of development. In the absence of a S.106 Agreement and appropriate infrastructure, the development would perform poorly in social sustainability terms.

The inquiry, expected to last for 3 days, will be held at the Council Offices, Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon starting at 10am.  A Government Planning Inspector will preside over the inquiry.

Members of the public may attend the inquiry and express their view – at the discretion of the inspector.
