Stratford District Council's Planning service has delivered its best ever performance results, when for the first time ever all four national performance targets were exceeded.

Determining Planning Applications within a reasonable timescale is recognised by Central Government as vital in supporting appropriate development and helping to deliver economic recovery. Because of this, national performance targets are set for all Planning Authorities to achieve. Failure to reach the minimum level of performance carries with it sanctions and for those Councils which fall into this category, the right to determine planning applications locally is removed and transferred to the Planning Inspectorate.

Robert Weeks, Head of Planning says: “Not only is this result a first for Stratford District Council, it is all the more significant because the volume of applications are currently running at an all-time high and last year this exceeded 3000 applications.  This success for the District Council has also been included as a case study for other Councils to learn from at this year's Local Government Association (LGA) conference in July."
