Stratford-on-Avon District Council together with a local homeless charity are looking for big-hearted District residents to help out.

Nightstop is working with the District Council to reduce homelessness within the District and are looking for host families to support homeless young people aged between 16-25 from across Stratford-upon-Avon, Alcester, Southam, and surrounding areas throughout Stratford District.

A host provides a spare room and a willingness to share their home with a young person; offering a caring and secure environment for young people to ensure they stay safe and off the streets.  Hosts can be families, couples or single people.

The host can offer:

  • Emergency accommodation on a night by night basis.
  • Supported lodgings, offering a placement normally between six to nine months.
  • Short term placements are flexible according the circumstances of the host.

The young people are screened before being put on the scheme and there is 24-hour support for the host and young person from Nightstop's staff.

Host families will also need to be willing to undertake a criminal records check, along with other safeguarding checks, and full training and support is provided to hosts and out of pocket expenses are given for emergency accommodation and a fee is payable for supported lodging.
