A key public inquiry starts next week on Tuesday 2 September. It follows an appeal by Persimmon Homes South Midlands against refusal of a major housing development at land off Loxley Road in Wellesbourne.

The proposal was for 80 homes with children's play area, public open space, surface water attenuation basin and associated infrastructure (accessed off Dovehouse Drive and Oxford Way). The District planning application reference is 13/03173/FUL.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council refused the application because it would:

  • Harm the landscape Character and the visual amenity of the area and result in the overdevelopment of Wellesbourne, creating an unacceptable change to the settlement.
  • Be in an unsustainable location.

The inquiry will be held at the Council Offices, Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon starting at 10am. It is expected to last for 2 days. An Independent Government Planning Inspector will preside over the inquiry and decide whether to accept or reject the appeal.

Members of the public may attend the inquiry and express their view – at the discretion of the Planning Inspector.

You can find out more information on the Appeal by visiting the Planning Inspectorates website through (http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/planning/appeals/) quoting the following reference: APP/J3720/A/14/2216615.
