Stratford District Council has stepped up its efforts to tackle rural crime, as part of the Community Safety Partnership, by appointing Lucy Lambert as the new Rural Crime Co-ordinator for Stratford District.

Tackling rural crime has been spearheaded by Stratford District Council's Community Safety Manager, Karin Stanley, and Safer Neighbourhood Inspectors Daf Goddard and Adrian Davis; and Lucy's role will be integral to delivering the new partnership Rural Crime Plan.

This is a new post and forms part of the District Council's drive to improve crime prevention awareness across the District, engage with rural communities and provide bespoke advice to victims of crime.

Although overall crime levels have reduced, the District Council is taking a proactive approach towards crime and its effects on those living in rural communities.

Lucy will be working closely with partnership agencies in particular with the Police Safer Neighbourhoods Teams, who will provide referrals of vulnerable or repeat victims, to ensure the best possible level of service is provided to residents.

The post is funded by Warwickshire's Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Ball, who has made rural crime a priority.

Ron Ball, Warwickshire's Police and Crime Commissioner said: “Rural crime can have a devastating impact upon communities, which is why tackling this area of criminal activity is one of my key priorities as Police and Crime Commissioner for Warwickshire. This new role will play an important part in helping to tackle rural crime."

Lucy Lambert, Rural Crime Co-ordinator for Stratford District Council said: “This role provides a fantastic opportunity to help residents and communities across the District. Crime Prevention advice will be tailored depending on your needs and circumstances, aiming to make individuals feel safer and communities empowered."

Cllr Gillian Roache, Community Safety, Health & Well Being Portfolio Holder for Stratford District Council said: “Crime in rural areas, whilst sporadic, is unsettling for communities and devastating for victims. Recognition of the vulnerability of rural communities and residents to acquisitive crime is timely."

Please continue to report crime to the Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
