A new community defibrillator (AED) has been installed at Stratford-on-Avon District Council's offices on Church Street in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The defibrillator will be used to save lives of District Council staff and people living, working, shopping or visiting nearby.

Defibrillators can save lives, or at least give precious extra minutes when people go into cardiac arrest, while an ambulance crew is en route.

Cllr Mike Brain, Technical Services Portfolio says: “Community defibrillation can sometimes mean the difference between life and death when someone goes into cardiac arrest. That's why it is so important to get these defibrillators out into the community and something I have been campaigning for, for a long time. It's great to see the District Council playing its part in helping to save lives; this is a great resource and I have no doubt that it will help to save a life one day."

The AED installed at the District Council is the very latest model and talks to tell you exactly what to do and is designed to be operated by people who are completely untrained.
