Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Leader, Cllr Chris Saint is to set up a group of stakeholders and interested parties to look at future infrastructure funding streams available to the District Council.

Following a meeting of the District Councils Network last week it was announced that there would be new funding opportunities available from the Department of Business Innovation and Skills Local Growth Deal.

Cllr Chris Saint, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council says: “The Local Growth Fund is a new funding opportunity, specifically for future development projects at a local level.  I have asked the Chief Executive to set up a group of external partners who will look to make a bid for a share of the monies available.  We need to bring the right people together to make a bid with up front projects.

“At our first meeting we'll need to look at what we can do to avail ourselves of the funding available.  We don't have any detail about specific projects as yet, as we need to listen to what our stakeholders want.

“It is envisaged that this Local Growth Fund will provide £2billion nationwide for each of the next 6 years, which should really help to make a difference with future infrastructure projects."
