Stratford-on-Avon District Council has handed over £2,215 worth of unused travel tokens to the local charity Age UK Warwickshire in March.

Although the District Council stopped issuing travel tokens a number of years ago when the free bus pass was introduced, they continue to benefit those in the District thanks to the kind generosity of District residents who return them.

Travel tokens were issued but sometimes not always used and are often discovered when residents move house or pass away.  These are then donated to the District Council who allocate them to a worthwhile beneficiary, in this case Age UK Warwickshire.

The money will be used to support the Information and Advice Service which offers confidential advice and information to older people, their friends or relatives. Each year Age UK Warwickshire responds to nearly 12,000 enquiries across the county.

The local office is situated at Orbit Heart of England's Briar Croft Extra Care scheme opposite the railway station and is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 1pm or can be reached on 01789 205059.

If you have any unused travel tokens that you would like to donate, please send them to the District Council.
