Stratford-on-Avon District Council together with Biffa are starting to tell residents of possible changes to the refuse and recycling collection rounds in August.

Luggage labels alerting residents to the possibility of changes are being distributed and put on wheelie bins this week.

The changes won't affect everyone but those that are affected will receive further information in due course.

Cllr Mike Brain, Technical Services Portfolio says: “The revised collection days will help to improve efficiency and keep providing the best value service for Stratford District residents.  The collection rounds have not changed since the introduction of the wheelie bin service in 2008 and since then new homes have been built in the District and these additional areas have just been absorbed into the collection rounds.  But the time has now come to look at making changes and improve efficiency.

“The changes won't affect everyone, we will be writing to the residents that will be affected, so they are aware of what changes are being made. This could be a change to their collection day and/or a change to the week the refuse or recycling is collected. Some properties will receive a one off interim collection if they will be going longer than 16 days between collections.

“There will obviously be a bedding in period with the changes and we hope residents will bear with us during this transition time, but hope that any disruption will be kept to a minimum.  All the information residents will need on the changes will be sent out direct to them as well as being available on the District Council's website."
