A Stratford-on-Avon District taxi driver has lost an appeal against having his Private Hire Operator's Licence suspended.

A 47 year old man, Mr Rakesh Singh of Betjeman Road, Stratford-Upon-Avon, appeared at Warwickshire Magistrates Court yesterday, Monday 14 September.

Mr Singh was appealing a decision by Stratford-on-Avon District Council to revoke his Private Hire Operator's Licence for one week.

The court found Mr Singh's evidence inconsistent and that he did permit the use of one his cars without insurance and that he had on another occasion driven one of his cars himself without his driver's badge and without the front licence sticker being properly displayed.  The court found the District Council's decision reasonable and proportionate.

Warwickshire Magistrates court rejected Mr Singh's appeal and ordered him to pay all the Council's cost.
