The public hearings involved in the examination of Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Core Strategy will resume in the New Year on Tuesday 12 January 2016 at the District Council Offices in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Planning Inspector, Pete Drew BSc (Hons) Dip TP MRTPI will continue the examination into the District Council's Core Strategy.
The purpose of the examination is to consider whether the Core Strategy complies with relevant legislation and is sound. The criteria for soundness are whether the Plans' policies are positively prepared, justified, effective and consistent with national policy.
The hearings will begin on Tuesday 12 January and continue over a 2 week period. They run from 9.30am to around 5.30pm daily and are open to the public. However, participation in the sessions is determined in advance by the Inspector and limited to those who have made representations proposing changes relevant to the topic under consideration.
The full programme of Hearing sessions has been published on the District Council's website at www.stratford.gov.uk/examination and confirms the key issues that will be discussed in each individual session.
Cllr Chris Saint, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council says: “We are pleased to see the process taking another step forward, but disappointed that the examination hearings are unable to resume earlier. This is a further step along the journey of getting an adopted Local Plan, that has undergone a highly bureaucratic process following government regulations with many delays out of our control."
Once the Examination Hearings have concluded the Planning Inspector will write a report that will include recommendations about the changes that need to be made to the Core Strategy to make it sound. Such changes are known as main modifications and will be published to enable the submission of any final representations. Any such representations will have to be taken into account by the Council when it considers whether or not to adopt the plan.
