Residents in Stratford-on-Avon District have hit the 60% recycling mark, making them still one of the best recyclers in England, according to the latest Government figures released.
Stratford-on-Avon District Council has maintained its position in the top ten Councils for recycling and composting for the third year with a recycling rate of 60.3% for 2014/15.
This puts the District Council in 10th out of a total of 320 Councils.
Cllr Mike Brain, Technical Services Portfolio says: “We've hit 60% and this is great news - our best figure ever! And it's thanks to our residents that we've been able to achieve this result with their commitment and support for recycling. The service we provide is designed to make recycling easy and our residents have responded to that by ensuring they recycle as much rubbish as possible and by limiting the amount of other waste that is produced.
It is important that residents continue to recycle and one of the reasons why we are performing so high is because more residents are regularly putting food in the green bin and the weekly collection of electric/electronic goods, textiles and batteries is continuing to be very popular. Residents can now see that their efforts and diligence has paid off."
