Get ready to Z-App fraud

Stratford-on-Avon District Council is calling on residents to help tackle fraud following the introduction of a new anti-fraud app for smartphones.

The District Council is one of a growing number of authorities in the country to adopt the App, which has been developed with funding from the Department of Communities and Local Government.

Clear and concise, the App carries authentic Stratford District Council branding, allowing the public to report concerns faster than ever before.

Residents will be able to use the Stratford-on-Avon Fraud Reporter to report any instance where they suspect fraud is being committed in relation to Council Tax, Business Rates, Corruption, Payments, Insurance, Employment, Grants or any other suspicion, completely confidentially. 

The App will be free to download and is designed to be easy to use and is available for both Apple and Android devices.

Cllr Dave Riches, Enterprise, Housing and Revenues Portfolio says: “The District Council is committed to stamping out all types of fraud in order to safeguard residents and protect public funds.

“The new app is a good example of the District Council adopting new technology to improve services.  Helping people to report fraud on the move brings the power of reporting straight into their hands.  The technology is quick, easy to use and simplifies the reporting process, making it easier than ever for people to help us with our investigations."

Fraud can still be reported on the Fraud Hotline by calling 01789 260486 – Housing Benefit Fraud can be reported to the Department of Work and Pensions directly on 0800 854 440.
