UPDATE: The tree works due to take place on Wednesday 9 March and postponed due to the weather are taking place today, Thursday 17 March.

Safety work on a number of trees along the River Avon will take place next week, Wednesday 9 March.

The works will take place between the River Avon and the pedestrian footpath on the Recreation Ground, by the Chain Ferry and Bowling Club.  The footpath will be closed for the duration of the works with a diversion route in place to direct public access around the pitch and putt to avoid the area completely.

The work includes the removal of a horse chestnut, due to the build-up of defects and declining condition and removal of deadwood in a lime tree.

The work on the trees is being carried out by Warwickshire County Council as a safety precaution and is expected to last one day.

The District Council apologises in advance for any inconvenience the works may cause.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council regularly carry out inspections on all trees on Council owned land to monitor their health.
