Stratford District Council statement for Planning Application 15/00976/OUT – land at Gaydon/Lighthorne Health

Members of Stratford-on-Avon District Council Planning Committee (East) have this evening (Tuesday 24 May) recommended the approval of outline planning permission for the construction of a residential development of up to 2,000 houses, including extra care housing, a primary school, community hub, health centre, retail and other services.

The application was approved as per the recommendation published in the report and in the update sheet, subject to final traffic works on the B4100 being brought back to the Committee for approval.

The Committee voted 5 in favour with 1 against.

Cllr Danny Kendall, Chairman of Planning Committee (East) said: “The Committee had a very robust debate during proceedings and whilst the approval has been given for the principle of this development to go forward the more detailed plan and works must now begin in order to achieve a development that is sustainable in the future.  This development forms a crucial element of the District Council's Core Strategy but has been approved on its own merits with all the evidence placed before the Committee."
