The European Union Referendum takes place on Thursday 23 June 2016 and Poll cards notifying residents of the election are being sent out next week.

The Poll Cards inform residents across the District where their polling station is and when they can vote, from 7am until 10pm.

To be able to vote at this Referendum, residents must either be on the electoral register or have applied to be so by Tuesday 7 June 2016.  If you are in any doubt, you can always contact Stratford District Council's Elections Office on 01789 260208 to check that you are on the electoral register at your current address.

If you receive a poll card, you are on the electoral register and can vote in the Referendum.

Postal votes are available to any resident who is on the electoral register. These are especially useful for those that are unable to get to a polling station on polling day due to health reasons, or who are perhaps on holiday or working away.

All completed application forms for postal votes must be submitted before 5pm on Wednesday 8 June 2016 and you must be on the electoral register to apply*.

For all election enquiries please contact Stratford District Council's elections office on 01789 260208.

*ABSENT VOTES – postal or proxy vote (when someone votes on your behalf).

Electoral Registration moved from Household registration to individual registration in June 2014.

People who are not registered to vote can do so on-line by going to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
