Local students were able to quiz politicians on issues of concern and interest to them last Friday, 2 November, at a Question Time event.   The event was organised by Stratford-on-Avon District Council as part of on-going work highlight the importance of decision-making to young people, and was held at Alcester High School.

Making their voices heard were more than 45 students from Alcester High School and St Benedict's (RC) High School and the Panel consisted of MP John Maples, District Councillors Lynn Bowring and Eric Payne, together with County Councillor Nina Knapman.

Questions covered a range of issues from the war in Iraq, the time limit on abortion, transport for young people and the Park and Ride facility.

Fittingly, on the day after what could have been the general election, the Students were also keen to explore how they could get involved in, and be aware of, political issues on an on-going basis.

The Students were invited to the District Council's Youth Council, "SAY-SO" (Serious About Youth Speaking Out) on 19 November at Elizabeth House - and the politicians were keen to meet the Students again in the future.
